Best Facial Epilators – Roundup Review

There are a range of facial epilators currently on the market, both manual and battery operated.  I have looked at the battery operated devices, and have picked out several that I believe offer good quality at the right price.

The first three are specifically for facial use, and the final two are also suitable for all-over body use as well as the face.

Which Facial Epilator Should You Buy?

Emjoi Epi Slim in box

Facial Epilator Best Buy

For my "best buy"  I have picked the Emjoi Epi Slim Facial Epilator.

It does the job it is designed for very well, whilst having the versatility to use for underarms and bikini area, and even leg touch-ups when travelling.

I like the slim design and the affordable price tag of around $30, for a good quality, effective little device.

Braun FaceSpa 830 how to use

The Braun FaceSpa 830 Mini Epilator has a lot to recommend it, and if you are looking for a facial epilator, from a leading Brand, with added extras and don't mind paying for them, look no further.

The cleansing/exfoliation brush attachment really is a plus, and means that your device will get plenty of use between epilation.

Epilady Esthetic in the hand

The Epilady Esthetic Facial Epilator lacks the versatility of the previous two epilators, but if you only need to remove very fine hair and peach fuzz, this offers an effective solution.

The spring coil is relatively gentle on the face and removes fine facial hair quickly.

Philips Satinelle Advanced BRE630 Epilator

The Philips Satinelle Advanced Wet/Dry Epilator is my favourite "all-rounder" and the facial cap attachment makes it almost as easy to use on the face as the dedicated examples above.

I like the fact that it can be used wet or dry, has a shaver head and is yet also suitable for use on cheeks, chin and upper lip., all for around £70.

If you are in the market for one device to cover all eventualities, this is the one.

If you want an all-round epilator that is very quick for use on larger areas, but can also be used on chin and upper lip, the Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed Epilator could be the one for you.

A good quality product with no frills and spills, but the ability to remove hair quickly and efficiently.

Emjoi Epi Slim Facial Epilator

Emjoi Epi Slim in the hand

Comfortable to hold, easy to use

I think of the stand-alone facial epilators that I have looked at, this one stands out as the best value for money, and is my pick of the crop.

For around $30 you get a battery operated, 9 tweezer epilator, designed for facial use (dry only), but which can also be used for underarms and bikini-line.

It has a slim, easily portable design, great for travelling and requires 2 AA batteries, which are very standard and readily available in most places.

What you get in the box

Among its features are a safety switch, to prevent it being turned on accidentally and running down the batteries.

Things we Liked

  • Inexpensive - currently retailing at just under $30
  • 9 Tweezer Head - for precise epilation
  • Battery Operated - convenience
  • Portable - slim design, great for travelling
  • Safety Switch Lock
  • One Year Warranty

  • No Travel Pouch Included

Braun FaceSpa 830 Mini Epilator

Braun FaceSpa 830 epilator head

Braun FaceSpa 830 epilator head

This battery operated (one AA battery) model from Braun comes with some added extras, making it more versatile, but at a cost of around $60.

It has a very slim design and a 10 tweezer head which can be rotated in either direction, depending on which side of the face you are treating.

The unique design of the head means that, unusually, you can use this device for the area between the eyebrows and above the eyebrows, if desired.

A great feature is the cleansing brush attachment for deep cleansing and exfoliation, which is easily interchangeable with the epilator head.

Epilady Esthetic Facial Epilator

Epilady Esthetic in the hand

The Epilady Esthetic Facial Epilator works differently to the others in that it has a spring coil rather than tweezers.

It is light, compact and comes complete with cleaning brush, zipped pouch and replaceable batteries (2 x AA batteries required).

The main downside of this product is that it is specifically designed for removing very fine "peach fuzz" facial hair only, and so will not meet the needs of everyone.

It is quite gentle and very effective for its intended purpose, and if it meets your requirements, is a good purchase at around $32, if less versatile than the Emjoi Epi Slim.

Philips Satinelle Advanced Wet/Dry Epilator

Philips Satinelle Advanced BRE630 Facial Cap

Facial Cap reduces the catching points for gentle precision

I must admit that this is probably my favourite epilator of all the one's that I have reviewed.  I like the S-shaped handle and the way it feels to hold and maneouvre.

Although it has a wide, 30mm head and 32 catching points, it comes with a facial cap which effectively reduces the number of catching points for precise and gentle epilating of facial areas.

The ceramic discs have a rough surface to ensure that even the finest hairs are firmly held and will not slip and the large epilation head means that it can deal with larger areas of the body quickly.

Other features include delicate area and massage caps, a shaver head with comb and an integral light set into the epilator head.

What you get in the box

If you want a facial epilator that also does a lot more, I would highly recommend this product.  Retailing at around $70 you get a lot of extras for your money.

  • Facial Cap - use on cheeks, chin and upper lip
  • Wet or Dry - cordless use, fully rechargeable batteries
  • Ergonomic S-Shaped Handle - well designed for harder to reach areas
  • Shaver Head - versatility of use

Things we didn't Like

  • Cordless use only - Need to keep batteries recharged, cannot be used whilst charging

Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed Epilator

This epilator has a 72  tweezer head over 2 rollers for maximum speed and efficiency over large areas, but can also be used on the face (upper lip and chin).

It is designed for corded use only, so needs to be plugged into the mains, but the cord is plenty long enough (6ft +) for comfortable use in most situations and it comes with a 110/240v power adaptor.

It can be used to remove hair from the upper lip and chin by holding the device at an angle so that only one side is against the skin.

Emjoi Tweezer Head

Shows the unique head design with central lifting "fingers"

This is a no-frills epilator which retails at around $80, with the quality coming in the design features of the head;  it consists of a series of staggered, dual opposed tweezers each comprising a set of 3 disks.

In each set there is one fixed disk to help stretch the skin whilst epilating, designed to make the process less painful.  The centre of the head features a series of "fingers" to raise any flat or shorter hairs.

If you would like a good quality epilator that can work all over the body as well as the upper lip and chin on your face, this may be the one for you.

Things we Liked

  • Quick and Efficient - 72 tweezers - maximum currently available
  • Corded Use - no need to re-charge or replace batteries
  • Convenient - to use at home with no mess
  • One Year Warranty

Things we didn't Like

  • Restricted facial use - chin and upper lip only
  • Corded - need to be near power socket
  • Noisy - more noisy than some other models
