Works excellently on both fine facial hairs and coarse body hairs.  Retailing at around $11, this tub of hard wax will last you a few months and is great value for money.  One of the best hard wax products on the market from a very reputable brand.

We advise heating Gigi’s Brazilian Hard Wax in a wax heater (if you are a hard wax novice we can recommend going with Gigi’s wax heater which retails at less than $40 – it will last for ages and will make sure the wax heats evenly).

The kit retails at less than $50 and comes with a wax-filled microwaveable cup, skin cleanser, pre- and post-waxing oils, 3 large spatulas, 3 small spatulas and an ingrown hair eliminating pad.

No need to buy a wax warmer for Bliss’ hard wax, as it is microwavable directly in the pot that it comes in for your convenience.

The hard wax is created with acai berry, the lovely smelling Brazilian berry that soothes and revitalizes skin: a perfect combination for a waxing product! A 14oz pot of Clean + Easy’s Hard Wax costs about $10 and, like Gigi’s version, contains enough wax for a few months worth of regular uses.

Like Gigi's Brazilian Hard wax product, you will need to heat this wax in a warmer for around 30-45 minutes prior to use.

How to Use Hard Waxing Products

As with soft wax, hard wax is applied to the area that you want to remove hairs from, and is pulled off in one rapid movement in order to pull hairs completely out of the follicle. This procedure leaves you with soft, hair-free skin for up to 8 weeks.

Here's a great video showing how to hard wax correctly:-

Hard Wax vs Soft Wax

Where hard wax differs from soft wax is in the application and removal – hard wax is applied in a thicker layer, left a few moments to harden and removed without the aid of cloth or muslin strips. Hard wax must be softened via heat, either with a wax heater or in the microwave, and once applied, it shrink wraps hair as it hardens (more info about hot vs cold waxing).

This means that not only is it great on coarse hair, but also on finer hairs. Hard wax is most often used in salons for the bikini line and the face. It is usually more effective to use soft wax on larger areas such as the legs as it’s faster to remove wax with strips on those areas.

If you are going to use hard wax you will need to treat the area with a pre-waxing oil (soft wax is pre-treated with powder). Using hard wax often comes with a bit of a learning curve, but once you have mastered it you may never look back!

We have researched the best hard wax products on the market right now and have come up with the 3 that go above and beyond the best.

1. Gigi Brazilian Hard Wax

Gigi are taking over the world of hair removal products! They provide top quality products for a decent price, and their hard wax comes highly recommended.

We advise heating Gigi’s Brazilian Hard Wax in a wax heater (if you are a hard wax novice we can recommend going with Gigi’s wax heater which retails at less than $40  – it will last for ages and will make sure the wax heats evenly).

A 14 oz can of Gigi’s Brazilian Hard Wax retails at $11 and lasts for many uses. We recommend leaving it to heat up for an hour the first time, and for about 30 minutes each subsequent use, just to ensure the wax is at its optimum temperature for removing all hair. It is also recommended to use a pre-waxing oil on the area so that the wax adheres to the hairs, and wooden spatulas to apply the wax evenly.

We love Gigi’s hard wax because it works excellently on both fine facial hairs and coarse body hairs. And once you have bought the heater you won’t be spending more than $11 every few months at the most, saving you hundreds that you would be spending in that time at the spa!

2. Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit

This wax was originally created to be used exclusively in Bliss’ spas, and can now be purchased for use at home.

There is enough wax for multiple uses and Bliss’ hard wax is great for even the most sensitive skin. While not the cheapest option, as in the long run it would be more expensive to purchase the waxing kit every 3 or 4 months than it would to purchase a wax warmer and a pot of hard wax every few months, it is still a lot cheaper than paying for a Bliss waxing session!

We love the convenience of the microwaveable pot, although you may have to reheat it a couple of times if you are waxing a large area, and we also love how soft it leaves your skin, even in the most sensitive areas!

3. Clean + Easy Hard Wax

Clean + Easy are already our favorites in the world of waxing and their hard wax does not disappoint either! (see our Clean + Easy Waxing Spa Basic Kit review here)

Like Gigi’s version, Clean + Easy’s Hard Wax needs to be heated in a wax warmer before use. The wax should be heated for 30-45 minutes in the warmer to make sure it is heated thoroughly and to avoid “stringiness” that happens when wax is not heated properly.

A pre-waxing oil should be applied before treatment for the ultimate wax, and any residue can be wiped off with a post-waxing oil (any oil works though, even olive oil!). While we recommend both Gigi’s and Bliss’ hard wax options, this one is our favorite, for its ease of use but also for the delicious fruity smell that it leaves on our skin!

Conclusion

After a thorough research we have found the best hard wax products on the market today, guaranteed to give you the same wax that you would get in a spa for the fraction of the price! Gigi’s Brazilian Hard Wax, Bliss’ Poetic Waxing Kit, and our personal favourite, the Clean + Easy Acai Berry Hard Wax.
