A Look at the Product
The angled head of the Remington WDF5030 is optimally positioned to easily maintain contact with the skin.
The open blade system, designed to reduce clogging, consists of 4 blades with 2 perforated foils and a dual sided, integral trimmer.
Each element is independently flexible to closely follow the contours of the body.
Hypoallergenic and with an antimicrobial additive on the blades, this shaver is suitable for use on sensitive skin. However, we would always suggest you test on a small, inconspicuous area prior to going in for the kill.
Finally a massage strip enriched with almond oil is included, to nourish the skin, whilst helping to stretch it for a more comfortable shave.
A bikini comb guard attachment is included, which can be easily clipped onto the shaver head, for safe use when shaping and trimming the bikini area.
Suitable for use wet or dry, in the shower and with or without your favourite shaving cream or gel etc., the shaver is fully charged in 20 hours (24 hours first time).
You can charge the shaver either by plugging the adaptor into the mains (220 - 240V) and the charging stand or, if you prefer, directly into the shaver.
There is a green indicator light on the device, positioned on the on/off button, which is illuminated all the time the shaver is charging.
A full charge will give you approximately 40 minutes shaving time.
The product comes complete with a cleaning brush for cleaning after dry use, and a drawstring pouch for storage or when travelling.
How to Use
It goes without saying that, as with any other electrical product, you should take time to read the instructions provided with the product, in particular any precautions.
Here, we have outlined the key points, to give you an idea, with a few hints of how to get the best results from your shave:
Before you Start
You will need to fully charge the shaver before using - for the first time this will take 24 hours, thereafter it will take 20 hours if the battery is completely empty.
The adaptor lead can be plugged into the charging stand or directly into the shaver.
If you are using the charging stand, make sure that the shaver is located on the stand and pushed firmly into place.
There is an indicator light located on the switch on the front of the shaver, which will glow green all the time the device is being charged.
If you are using the shaver dry, make sure that there is no moisture present on the skin and it is clean of any oils or cosmetics etc., to avoid sticking.
If using wet, you can choose to use shaving cream, gel or whatever. You may like to do this, especially if you have sensitive skin, as it enhances glide and feels more gentle on.
To use the shaver, you should hold it with the head flush against the skin at a 90 degree angle to it, using a very little pressure.
To shave your legs, you need to glide the shaver slowly up the leg, in the opposite direction to the hair's growth.
If you have left it a while and the hair is longer than about 5mm, use the trimmer first to trim them down, and then follow up with the shaver.
To use the trimmer, you need to hold the device at a 45 degree angle to the skin.
To edge and shape the bikini area, attach the trimmer comb provided over the head, hold at a 90 degree angle to the skin and use very little pressure.
The shaver head needs to be cleaned regularly by rinsing under warm water.
To thoroughly clean (recommended after each use) remove the foil holder using the release buttons on either side of the head and blow gently on the foils to remove any loose shavings.
The head is released by sliding the head release button on the back to the right and pulling firmly off.
This can be cleaned by brushing if dry, or rinsing in warm water.
Leave the whole lot open until fully dry and then reassemble the head and foils by reversing the procedure.
It is recommended that foils and blades are replaced at least every 6 months, if used regularly.
The life of the battery can be prolonged by completely running down every 6 months and then fully re-charging it.
Whilst shaving is the method of hair removal with the shortest lived results, there are a number of reasons why it is still an attractive choice for many:
This is top of my list, as I am pretty namby pamby when it comes to any sort of pain, and of course shaving is one of only two methods that are completely pain-free.
The other method of hair removal that doesn't involve pain, but has slightly longer lasting results is the use of depilatory cream.
The advantages of shaving over depilatories are speed, lack of mess and the fact that it doesn't involve plastering your skin with harsh and often strong-smelling chemicals.
Quick and Easy
Shaving, particularly using an electric shaver, requires very little practice and is easily the quickest form of hair removal.
In comparison to other methods such as waxing and depilatories, there is little to clear up afterwards, plus there is no ongoing cost other than the occasional replacement blades and foils.
Shaving is a very convenient method of hair removal, be it at home or on your travels, a quick run over with a shaver can be done almost anywhere at any time.
There are travel shavers available that run on basic batteries, so you don't even have to worry about charging, just keep a spare in your bag.
Aside from the initial outlay, there are few running costs associated with electric shaving, just the occasional replacement of foils and blades.
Product Q & A's
Is this shaver safe to use in the shower?
Yes, it is 100% waterproof for wet or dry use.
How often do you have to replace the blades?
The manufacturer recommends replacing blades and foils every 6 months.
How do you know when it is time to replace the blades and foils?
Replacement of both is recommended every 6 months. If you notice any unusual irritation or pulling, or if the foil is worn through it is an indication that replacements are required.
Does it indicate when the battery needs charging?
No, there is no indicator - it is time to recharge the battery if you notice a slowing of the motor. Personally, I would recommend keeping the shaver on the charger stand permanently, unless you are not shaving for long periods, as it takes 20 hours to charge fully.
Does a full charge give long enough to shave both legs?
A full charge gives 40 minutes shave time, so yes, it should easily be sufficient for both legs.
Has it got any sort of guarantee?
Yes, the manufacturer offers a 60 day money back guarantee.
Is this shaver OK to use on the bikini area?
Yes - there is a bikini comb attachment specifically for the purpose, which is easily snapped on over the shaver head.
Overall, a good value for money, efficient little shaver with integral trimmer.
Easy to use and comfortable to hold, not a bad choice for a low cost product. With a 60 day money back guarantee, from a Brand you can trust, you can't go wrong.
