Product Overview

This Moom product is manufactured in Canada using natural products (this is not one of Moom's organic range).
These ready to use strips are easy to use, simply by warming with the hands, then pulling apart, pressing on and zipping off.
Ideal for first time users and with no mess or fuss, great to take with you when travelling.
These are large strips, so specially designed for larger areas; legs and body.
Moom also manufacture a separate product for use on face and bikini-line. As far as I can see the ingredients are the same, the difference being that the strips are smaller, so more suitable for these areas and the retail price is a bit less.
Both come with a small bottle of finishing oil to remove any wax residue and leave the skin feeling soft and smooth.
What's in the Box

Contents of the Box
- Ten double sided, pre-waxed clear wax strips (making 20 in all)
- One 8ml (0.27 oz) bottle of finishing oil
- Instruction leaflet
A Look at the Product
The Strips
The strips are double sided, on clear backing, so easy to see what you are doing and the exact area being treated.

Double sided wax strip
The wax area of each strip is 140mm x 55mm, sandwiched between the 2 clear sheets.
Once these 2 sheets are carefully pulled apart, it gives you 2 usable wax strips, which are a good size for treating larger body areas.
The Finishing Oil

The finishing oil is very delicately fragranced, I was picking up a very faint cucumber, and is used for removing any residue wax after treatment. It leaves the skin feeling smooth and silky.
It is a small bottle, containing 8 ml of oil, but a little goes a long way and you only need to use it sparingly, so there is sufficient for the number of wax strips provided.
Ingredients
The following is a photograph of the ingredients list, taken from the box, to check in case of known allergies.

Ingredients - shot straight from the box
As with any other hair removal product, you should carry out a skin test prior to using the product.
Skin Test
Carry this out on a small, inconspicuous area 24 hours prior to use following the instructions and precautions provided.
If you have no adverse reaction after 24 hours, it is safe to continue with the full treatment.
Where Can it be Used?
Moom Express natural wax strips can be used almost anywhere on the body, but their large size makes them particularly suitable for larger areas such as legs, arms, underarms etc.
If you wish to use on smaller areas it is best to purchase the smaller strips specifically for face and bikini-line. Alternatively, you can cut the large strips down to size first.
This product is not for use on:

Do not use on varicose veins
- Nipples
- Genitals
- Inside ears or nose
- Eyelids
- Compromised, irritated or open skin
- Moles or warts
- Varicose veins
- Sunburnt skin
- Skin being treated with Retin A, Accutane, Glycolic Acid or Alpha Hydroxy products
Always follow the manufacturers precautionary advice and if in any doubt seek medical advice prior to use.
How Easy is it to Use?
This product is very easy to use:

Warm between hands
Firstly, you need to warm the double strip between your hands to soften the wax and then gently pull apart to give 2 strips.
Then smooth down the strip firmly onto the area to be treated rubbing 3 or 4 times in the direction of the hair's growth.
Hold skin taut below the strip with one hand and rip off the strip with the other in the opposite direction to the hair's growth.
You should do this as quickly as possible, as close to and parallel with the skin to get good results. Do not pull off in an upwards direction away from the skin.

Pull off against direction of hair growth
The same strip can be used a couple of times - the instructions state that they can be used several times, but I found after using twice it became ineffective.
Do not use on the same area of skin more than twice in one treatment.
After use apply the finishing oil to clean the skin of any residues of wax, and to soothe it.
To store the strips, keep them flat in the box in a cool, dry place safely out of the reach of children.
Is it Painful?

Yes it is painful, just as with all waxing, but I found it to be a relatively gentle pain (on my legs), with a stinging sensation and sensitivity afterwards for a few hours.
I found that the after oil had a nice, soothing effect, which helped a little.
If you are waxing for the first time, it is best to start on a less sensitive area like the legs, rather than underarms, to get used to the process and perfect your technique.
Is it Effective?
Personally, I tested the strips on my legs and it was pretty effective, although I did need to use it twice on some bits and I still had the odd stray left over.
The recommendation in the leaflet is that previously shaved hair should be grown to 1cm (1/2") long before treating, so it may be that some of the hair was a bit short.
Online reviews tend to be a bit mixed, but I find that to be the case with all waxing products, so I think it really is a question of finding the best one for you.
Why Wax at Home?

Each method of hair removal has its pros and cons, but below we have concentrated on the advantages of home waxing only.
Home Waxing vs Salon
The first and perhaps main advantage that home waxing has over visiting a salon is the cost.
Home waxing kits are available at anything from $12 upwards, whereas the salon fee for two half legs is likely to be at least $30. Given that most kits provide sufficient for at least a couple of treatments, the saving over a year is pretty significant.
Privacy is, I think, another big advantage of waxing at home, especially for the more intimate parts of the body.
The comfort and convenience of being able to wax at home in your own time, when you feel like it and without having to wait for an appointment is yet another advantage.
Finally, and the advantage most appealing to me, is that of being in control and the ability to manage the pain, to stop for a while if I feel like it.
Home Waxing vs Other Methods
So what are the benefits of waxing over other at home methods - namely shaving, depilatory creams and epilating?

Shaving simply removes hair at the skin's surface and so the results are much shorter-lived than waxing and is generally a daily task. Results of waxing can last for several weeks, depending on the area treated.
In addition, it is not uncommon to have a "stubbly" regrowth from shaving, whereas waxed regrowth tends to become finer and sparser over time.
Depilatory Creams are similar to shaving in that hair is removed near the skin's surface and results last for little longer than shaving.
Epilators provides similarly lasting results as they remove hair from the root in much the same way as waxing. The main advantage that waxing has is that it is quicker and removes hair from relatively large areas with each pull.
Product Questions and Answers
Do you need to microwave this product?
No, you just warm them between your hands and then gently pull apart.
Why is there only 10 strips when it says 20 on the box?
The wax comes between 2 strips - if you warm gently between your hands to soften the wax you can gently pull them apart, giving you 2 usable strips.

Are the strips reusable?
You can use each strip twice, but only during one treatment
I have sensitive skin - is this product suitable for me?
Yes, it is designed for sensitive skin, but do perform a patch test on a small area of skin 24 hours prior to use. If you do not have any adverse effects after 24 hours it is safe to continue with the full treatment - ensuring that you follow all the instructions and precautions provided.
Are they easy enough to use? - I have not waxed before
Yes, they are very easy to use, with no mess or fuss - make sure that you follow all the instructions and precautions for best results.
The main thing is to be sure to apply the strips in the direction of the hair's growth, keep skin taut with your spare hand, and zip off quickly against the direction of hair's growth.
Conclusion
I found these strips to be very easy to use, pretty efficient for pre-waxed strips, not overly painful and relatively inexpensive.
They are ideal for use when travelling, as they can be used anywhere, with no mess or fuss.
All in all, I would recommend this product, especially for waxing novices.
