The Best 5 Hair Trimmers & Clippers for Men
Looking to cut your hair short at home? Do you need to trim your beard but you aren’t interested in shaving it off? Want to painlessly get rid of nose and ear hair?
What you need is a good hair trimmer or clipper or a good all-in-one body groomer. We have created a list with five of the best hair trimmers and clippers that can currently be found on the market.
1. Panasonic ER-GB40-S Cordless Moustache & Beard Trimmer
While it is marketed as a moustache and beard trimmer the Panasonic ER-GB40-S can actually be used all over the body, wet or dry.
With its 19 adjustable settings (each 0.5mm from 1mm to 10mm) you don’t need all types of different length comb attachments and it can be used on the head, face and body.
It costs less than $40 and comes with 3 comb attachments for easier precision trimming, a charging stand and a cleaning comb.
One of the great advantages of this trimmer is that it has a special water drain that allows you to clean it easily under a running tap. The trimmer comes with stainless steel, hypoallergenic blades that are at a 45 degree angle for a precise cut.
The only downside to this trimmer is that it contains a nickel metal hydride battery instead of a lithium ion battery and there have been some complaints about a lengthy charge time.
Things we Liked
- Great for moustache, beard and the rest of the body
- Length settings are adjusted on the machine directly
Things we didn't Like
- Battery take ages to charge
2. Philips Norelco Multigroom Trimmer
To quote a happy reviewer, this trimmer provides “everything but the kitchen sink”.
The newest edition of the Philips Norelco Multigroom Trimmer comes with 18 adjustable length settings, 8 grooming tools (full-size metal guard trimmer, body groom shaver, body trimming comb, hair clipping comb, beard comb, stubble comb, precision trimmer and nose trimmer) and self-sharpening blades made from chromium steel.
The cordless trimmer comes with a wall charger and can be used wet or dry, and can be cleaned directly under running water.
As a great addition, it contains a turbo boost option for a fast trim and works on all types of hair, even coarse, thick hair.
The unit charges within about an hour for 40-60 minutes of use (lithium ion battery).
At less than $60 it is a great deal, but if you are only interested in a beard or head hair trimmer you may want to look for a cheaper unit with less attachments.
Things we Liked
- Comes with all the tools to trim and clip hair on all areas of the body
- Has a turbo boost option
Things we didn't Like
- On the more expensive side
3. Panasonic ER430K Nose, Ear & Facial Hair Trimmer Wet/Dry with Vacuum Cleaning System
If you are just looking for a small trimmer for your nose, ear and facial hair then the Panasonic ER430K is the one for you.
Retailing at less than $20, this nifty little tool not only trims nose and ear hairs uniformly it also contains a vacuum system that collects all trimmed hairs.
This means no more bouts of sneezing or pesky itchiness due to stray, cut hairs in the nose! In addition, the Panasonic ER430K comes with stainless steel and hypo-allergenic rotary blades that are curved at a 60 degree angle.
These blades cut hairs evenly and without tugging, leading to a pain-free trim every time. It can be used wet or dry and is easily cleaned under running water.
The only downside to this trimmer is that it takes one double AA battery and they tend to run out pretty fast (this is where having rechargeable batteries would come in handy).
Things we Liked
- Perfect for ear and nose hair
- Comes with a unique vacuum system to clean up hairs
Things we didn't Like
- Takes a double AA battery/is not rechargeable
4. Wahl 79524-2501 Chrome Pro 24-Piece Haircut Kit
The Wahl 79524-2501 is a great value full body trimmer as not only does it provide a high quality trim, it also comes with 24 pieces that all fit perfectly into the black, plastic case that it is sold in.

The self-sharpening, high-carbon steel blades stay sharp for a long time, giving you great and easy trim anywhere on the body, even if your hair is thick and coarse.
At less than $30 you really get value for your money with this set! On the flipside, this trimmer is not wireless and therefore cannot be used in the shower, and the settings can only be adjusted by using a numbered guide comb (as opposed to adjusting directly on the tool itself).
Things we Liked
- Comes with all the tools you need to trim all areas of the body
- The case is great for storage
Things we didn't Like
- Not cordless
- Length settings cannot be adjusted directly on the tool
5. Andis T-Outliner Trimmer with T-Blade
One of the more expensive trimmers on our list, the Andis T-Outliner Trimmer with T-Blade is the best trimmer on the market for facial hair outlining, design work and fades.
Its T-Blade is super close-cutting and the blades are made from high quality and hardened carbon-steel to ensure longevity and quality.
The trimmer retails at around $50 and is a great tool for those who like to outline and trim beards, moustaches, necks and the edging around the ears.
It also has fantastic contouring capabilities, allowing for an even trim all over the face and neck.
Another plus for the Andis is that its motor is very quiet.
As the trimmer is not cordless or waterproof it cannot be used in the shower, it is best used dry, as it was mainly designed for facial hair outlining and trimming and not body grooming.
Things we Liked
- Great for outlining and contouring facial hair perfectly
- Very quiet motor
Things we didn't Like
- Not cordless
- Not ideal for areas other than the face or neck
